About Ingredients

  • A store-bought unbaked pie crust keeps this recipe quick and easy. Use a standard 9-inch crust. If you want to make your crust then try this basic quiche crust.
  • Pre-Cooked bacon really speeds up the recipe, is pretty darn good and works wonderfully in quiche.
  • Use milk for a lighter texture or cream for a richer quiche. Either works well here. Want the 411 then read this helpful post about diary in your quiche.
  • Sharp or medium cheddar both work well. Dividing the cheese between the filling and the top gives the quiche flavor throughout and a nicely browned finish. Get more information on using cheese in quiche.

Recipe Notes

Do not overfill the crust. A standard 8 or 9-inch pie crust should hold this amount comfortably, but it helps to place the pie plate on a baking sheet before moving it to the oven.

Bake until the center is fully set. A quiche can look done around the edges while still being loose in the middle, so check the center before removing it from the oven.

Let the quiche rest before slicing. A short cooling time helps the filling firm up and makes cleaner slices.

If your pie crust starts browning too quickly, loosely tent the edges with foil during the last part of baking.

How to Store

Store leftover quiche covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat individual slices in the microwave in short intervals or warm them in a 300°F oven until heated through.

To freeze, wrap cooled slices well and freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
